Correspondence with Piper

As usual, both of you present wonderful music, thoughtful lyrics and hilarious commentaries to go with it for your spell-bound audience! Thanks so much for opening your hearts and souls and sharing your talents. As I have said before, I know we have begun to reside in your "groupie" group!!!

We'll be anticipating the next time we get to be entertained by both of you.

Hugs from the Lobmeyers,
Lois & Jerry

I was fortunate to hear you perform my first time when you and your partner, Tim, came to the "Starry Night Coffee House" on 6th street in Topeka. Although that has been a while ago, I guess it's never too late to say how much I enjoyed you. I don't remember anyone I have heard lately that even was in your caliber of talent. Although not a voice or music expert, I sure know what I like and what I don't and you sure have a wonderfully talented voice and style and I could listen to you all the time.

Piper, Bev Nittler and I were really impressed with yesterday's performance. You have come so far so fast. I was deeply impressed that you even knew who Eva Cassidy is, let alone to discover what a deep impact she's had on you. Yesterday's show gave me a whole new look at the amazing breadth of musical styles you can handle with equal talent and enthusiasm. We caught some of your act at River City Brewery, too. We could tell you really enjoy that kind of intimate environment where you're right in the middle of your audience.

Your website is dynamite.

Success is coming on you fast. You've earned it, but always remember RULE 1. Don't ever let success stop you from being Piper. You have a wonderful freshness about you. Don't ever let success jade that freshness.

We're looking forward to your CD. We assume you'll e-mail when it's pressed.

Hope you're ready for life in the fast lane, because you're headed there at warp speed!

zak (and Bev)

WHAT a WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE! I can't remember EVER seeing a better show from a more talented performer... and I've seen Petula Clark several times :)

The variety was great, the stage confidence was great, the musicianship was great, and THAT VOICE! You, Piper Leigh Ewing Bowling to be, have THE GIFT! I hope you really do keep that act together and take it on the road. You'll develop and earn a great following. Eva would be proud and you'll help HER sell CDs as well.

Thanks for one of the nicest afternoons I've ever experienced. Continued success to you.

Jack

Hello Piper, I lived in Wichita for over 30 years and still have children there. My daughter wrote me about your upcoming CABARET to benefit the SKF and I just wanted to thank you for your involvement.

I am an almost 7 yr survivor of melanoma and have dedicated my life to making a difference in the public's awareness. In addition to writing my life story, I have spent 18 months researching and developing my website.

I am a fan of Eva...her cousin, Laura Bligh...who as I am sure you know, manages her website...posted a comment about my site. I of course had already included a link to Eva's in mine. Maybe I could ask her to post an article about the CABARET performance.

I have enjoyed listening to you and perusing your site. Actually I also smiled at your photos from Ireland as I was in Donegal and at Dingel Bay about 15 years ago.

My daughter and I and my best friend in Wichita will be at your performance Sunday. I wrote Dr. Moeller as well. I have a childhood friend who just went through melanoma surgery and whom I haven't seen in at least 40 years, who will be attending as well.

I hope to get to meet you and say hello. Thank you again for providing another venue to get the word out about this disease.

Sincerely,
Linda Talbott

Hey Piper,

Karl from Studio B. in Omaha here... just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed having you here yesterday. I had to take off to my radio gig while you were just finishing your show with Tom, so I did'nt get a chance to say thanks for coming to see us here in the armpit of Nebraska. You are a gifted artist and a shining example of God's handwriting. You have a future so bright(that you better wear shades.) We loved your sweet smoky tones and being the guitar sluts that we are we loved your Taylor, too. (-:

If you're ever up here on the Muddy Mo' give us a shout! Hope you had a safe trip home... when we put the finishing touches on your show I'll be sure and send you a copy of the CD.

Take Care!
Karl Lee

Piper -

I'm listening to Time and Distance as I write this. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your performance on Sunday. God has truly blessed you with a very special gift. I appreciate you share that with us. You are a dear friend and I am so glad that I have the opportunity to spend time with you and have you as a friend. The lord speaks to all of us and I can hear him speaking to me through you.

Please stop by if your ever near WSU.

Friends always !

Neal

Hello Piper, I am an Eva Cassidy fan. I have read a couple of items about you on Eva's website, and I have also visited your own site to find out more about you. It seems Eva has had an influence on you music, and you recently gave a concert in tribute to Eva. A review posted on Eva's site praised you as an exceptional talent, with a style somewhat similar to Eva's, and that your rendition of Over the Rainbow (my favorite Eva song) brought tears to many at the concert. I am of course interested in someone who has so much musical talent at such a young age, especially someone who plays the guitar and can sing like Eva.

I'd love to acquire whatever recordings or audio/video tapes you have available for sale to the public. Please advise this potential fan how I can purchase, listen to and enjoy your music.

Thanks, and may you have continued success in your musical endeavors. And best wishes on your upcoming wedding.

Hi again, Piper,

Thanks for your quick response to my request. And I can't believe you are sending me a CD of the live recording of your concert tribute to Eva. That is just awesome! You are wonderful, and I'm sure I'll find your music very enjoyable. I am so pleased that even as you have become increasingly popular, your fans remain an important (for real) part of your career. I was so excited when I discovered Eva. I am very excited again that I might discover yet another supremely beautiful singer/musician in Piper Leigh (my daughter's full name is Jennifer Leigh Roux).

I would also appreciate receiving updates on whatever future recordings you will have available. And I'll be more than glad to purchase any of your previous recordings now available as well (I subscribe to PayPal, so I can remit electronically).

I can't wait to listen to your CD. Stay well-grounded, and I'm sure more success will come your way sooner than you expect. Thanks again. I'm rooting for you.

I've been listening to your Eva concert CD for a few days now. And I'm still looking for Autumn Leaves, what happened to it?! Anyway, here's my take:

You certainly have the versatility to sing many different types of music. But I take it you're more inclined towards up-tempo, rather than soft, slow songs. I like the occasional fast beat, but I'm primarily a ballads and love songs kind of a guy. I love music which can pierce deep into my inner self, pull at my heartstrings, create tender memories, or bring them back. It's primarily why I love Eva.

Having said that, however, I really do like the entire CD. I especially like Cheek to Cheek, Stormy Monday, Wade in the Water and Junkman. I love Mama and DLMBLT. I also love Penny to my Name (in fact, I kind of prefer your version over Eva's---I hope that's allowed!), and also IDMA. And if that's you on the guitar on these last two songs, and a number of others, you're a fabulous guitarist!

I also like Fields of Gold. And although Eva's Over the Rainbow is in a class all its own, I also love your version of it (I do wish you had slowed it down a bit on these two songs).

You remind me of how I was thrown when I first heard Joss Stone. I was never into soul music, I could take one song at a time, then my ears would go bleahhh! But along comes Joss, with an incredible singing style, and her powerfully moving voice made me love whatever it is she may choose to sing.

And now Piper Leigh is also messing with my musical taste. YOU are also an AWESOME singer, as I can feel you in your music. You have a raspy, scratchy, bassy voice, very distinctive, and very pleasant. I'm not a music expert, but I know what I like, and I can listen to you sing again and again. I look forward to your next CD.

By the way, your passion for singing shows in your CD. And your laugh is cute and infectious. And I love your personality and spunk.

Piper, thanks again for sending me the CD. If you have an update/mailing list, please keep this new fan on it.

I wish you good health, much happiness and continued success.

— George Roux

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Would the cynics in the crowd mind setting their freakometers to stun. For those of you who are spiritual, this is going to be right up your alley.

Like many in the world, I use music to affect my various moods. I've leaned on one particular track lately as one of the best "cry" songs ever committed to sonic splendor. I bought Piper Leigh's CD on a recent trip to Winfield, KS. Track 12, a.k.a. her cover of "Over The Rainbow" takes the listener on an acoustic freeway of incredible emotion, lifting just enough original melody while adding the flavor of her seasoned voice. With so much musical gristle clogging up the airwaves these days, it's nice to witness someone cutting right from the center.

I bawled my freaking eyes out every time I listened to it. I listened to it about 200 times. The lyrics, if you've ever had a chance to note, are very uplifting. It speaks of this place high above where troubles melt like lemon drops and if birds can fly above the rainbow, why can't I. Dreams. Hope. To me, it's a song of hope. It says I'm standing here on the earth looking upward knowing there's something better.

I've been going through some crazy stuff lately. I've questioned love, peace, hope, faith, existence. I've questioned God. Last night, I was getting out of my car to go into a grocery store. There were people standing next to their cars looking up at the sky. I noticed a rainbow in the sky. Not just any rainbow. It's color was so vibrant and there was a second rainbow next to it. You could see a perfect arch where it began and ended. It was the most incredible thing I ever saw.

I started crying right there in the parking lot. God was right there with me. That rainbow wasn't just a weak streak in the sky but it had such color and shape. I knew that God was listening to my prayers. I knew the prayers of all my friends were being heard. It gave me the miracle of hope. Not that everything would turn out the way I wanted it to but that I knew I would be okay, regardless of the outcome.

I love you, Piper. Your song is beautiful. You are beautiful.
